In-House Coder Training

CHPA is exploring the possibility of offering American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) certification training courses for CHC staff (including nurses, MAs, and providers)! Courses may be offered for the following certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), and Certified Documentation Expert-Outpatient (CDEO). At the end of a course, students can sit for the AAPC certification exams that are offered at local chapters and/or a convenient location in the Denver metro area. Courses vary in length and will take approximately 4-6 months to complete. They include interactive lectures, quizzes, access to an online learning management system (LMS), and exams and discounts on AAPC books, exams, study guides, and memberships.

We would like to know who on your staff may be interested in pursuing any of the above certifications through our AAPC-sponsored CHPA program. Please email Gary Romero, CHPA’s Manager of Risk Adjustment & Quality, with a list of employees who may want to take advantage of this opportunity by Friday, Sept. 2, 2022. Any questions may also be directed to Gary.
